The Tzadik
R' Aharon
This niggun was composed by Reb Aharon Charitonov, the shochet of Nikolayev and he named it “the Tzadik”. While the previous niggun was called “the Benoni”, he described this one as “the Tzadik”.
It is also known as Reb Eliyahu Chaim Althaus’ niggun. Although he did not compose it, this chossid would frequently sing it at the Frierdiker Rebbe’s farbrengens, so it became attributed to him. While singing it, Reb Eliyahu Chaim Althaus would insert the words “ein tzvei drai fir” (“one, two, three, four”) in the first stanza and “tatteh” (“father”) in the second.
